On Ilham Aliyev’s Investments in Ukraine

We, ASIMKOM – the Coordination Center for Azerbaijani Political Refugees, issue this urgent appeal to the Ukrainian government and the public.

According to the information we have obtained, Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev is making large-scale investments in Ukraine through his family-owned companies. The company Nexol has already taken control of Ukraine’s largest titanium deposits and is now attempting to acquire Odessa Port. Additionally, we strongly suspect that the Aliyev regime has other major investments in Ukraine.

The source of these investments is the wealth of the Azerbaijani people. For years, Ilham Aliyev and his oligarchic circle have been looting Azerbaijan’s national resources and laundering these illicit funds abroad. The investments being made in Ukraine are nothing more than stolen capital, derived from corruption and the embezzlement of public assets.

We call on the Ukrainian government to take this matter seriously and prevent Ilham Aliyev from using Ukraine as a platform to launder his corruption money under the guise of investment. While the Ukrainian people and military are sacrificing their lives to defend their homeland, corrupt regimes must not be allowed to use these sacred lands for financial laundering.

At a time when the Ukrainian state is taking decisive steps to combat corruption, Aliyev’s investments must be scrutinized, and if any traces of corruption are found, appropriate legal actions should be taken.

We, ASIMKOM, will continue to bring this issue to the attention of the international community and urge the Ukrainian government to take a firm stance on this matter.
